Hi currently we are seeking 6 more people to come and work for us doing grape prunning work. We pay excellant rates and some people are making excellent money - over $25 per hour!! Most of the work is paid on contract rates however the minmum you will be paid would be 12.5 + 8% holiday pay per hour.

This type of vineyard work is carried out every year. We work with young or older plants and we basicaly have to select certain number of most suitable canes on the plant and remove any unneded canes. The work includes four main operations.

Operation number 1.
Pruning - Is done usually at the end of the season when most of leaves fall off. For pruning we use proffesional loppers (kind of pruning scisors). The best loppers we use are made in France (brand name BAHCO). The main job consists in removing any old canes (branches) and leaving certain number of most suitable canes on the plant. Usually we leave between 3 to 6 best canes on the plant. The work is very physical and really suitable only for boys.

Operation number 2.
Stripping - follows straight after pruning and the job consists of removing any prepruned canes and branches from the plant. It is very important not to demage any canes which we left for later use. The work is very physical and really suitable only for boys.

Operation number 3.
Trimming - follows straight after stripping and we use proffesional secateurs (kind of hand scisors)made in France (brand name BAHCO). The main job consists of removing any small shoots or tendrils from selected canes.The work is very physical and really suitable only for boys.

Operation number 4.
Wrapping - is done mostly by girls and the main job consists of wrapping selected canes onto fruiting wire and securing them with paper tie or anchor band.
